Late August 2020

Check the Orchard Update link (to the right) for status on apple varieties, picking opportunities, the pumpkin crop, and other farm products.

We are opening to the public on Saturday, August 22. We'll start with pick-your-own apples, with customers walking or driving to the orchard. Starting Labor Day weekend, the tractor and wagons will run, with limited load size to provide proper social distancing. We ask that our guests wear masks when social distancing is not possible. We will also allow customers to drive to the orchard if they prefer not to take the tractor ride.

We have a lot of nice apples this year. Some trees are really loaded with apples, but the rain this summer has helped them get to an acceptable size anyway. A few varieties may not last very long once they are fully ripe. Come for the experience and the enjoyment of a family outing in the fresh country air.

BAKED GOODS: You have two ways to pre-order our tasty baked goods:

(1) You may pick up orders at the farm on most days at a prearranged time. We can deliver directly to your car. Please give us a day or two to prepare your favorite baked good.

(2) Pick-up your order at the Land of Goshen Community Market in Edwardsville on Saturday, from 8:00 AM - noon. We'll also have a selection of non-ordered items for sale there.

The Goshen Market online shop has closed until winter. Thank you to our customers who used this great resource.

NEW BUILDING:  It's up! And big! And very red! You can't miss it. We're very pleased with the space it will give us, although it will take us a while to get the interior the way we want it. Thank you, again, to all those who donated to our building fund! It's a big project. We will continue working out of our little brown store (with the porch) for the immediate future.

LAND OF GOSHEN COMMUNITY MARKET:  We plan contiune as a vendor beginning on June 13, 2020. We mainly take our pies, cookies, and other baked goodies, and fruit as it is available. If you'd like to order a pie for pick up the Market on Saturday mornings between 8:00 and noon, please call the farm at 618-887-4732 before Friday. Leave a message with your name, phone number, and what you'd like. We'll call you back to confirm, and have it in Edwardsville waiting for you at our stall.

The children's play area is limited this year, with the 3-floor maze closed. But the swings are open, and there are still animals to visit, and space to run around. You can also admire our home-built half-scale Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), but future astronauts will have to stay outside it this year. The first man on the moon was over fifty years ago on July 29, 1969,

As many of you already know, our iconic red apple barn (the main building) was completely destroyed by fire on May 4, 2014. Our market, bakery, cider operation, wreath making equipment, coolers, walk-in freezer (which contained hundreds of gallons of cider and many apple pies worth of filling), and countless other items were totally lost. With over thirty years in business, we had accumulated a lot of stuff, and guess where it was stored.

We intend to rebuild. We want to make it better. We want to do it right. In the interim, we have temporary operations in place in order to continue to do business. Please bear with us during the coming seasons.

Just a note: the parking is free, the play area is free, the wagon ride is free, and the country ambiance is free.  We are family owned and operated; our bakery goods are hand made on-site and our apples may not be as pretty as the store bought varieties - but they usually taste better.  We aren't a big operation, but we put a lot of heart into making you feel at home.  So take a break from reality, put down your iPhone, "Come visit us!"
